Texas rules worth knowing
- Renew online every other time
- If you renewed in person last time, you can often renew online on Texas.gov.
- New residents: 90 days
- Get a Texas license within 90 days of moving here, and register your car within 30.
- Change of address: 30 days
- Update your address within 30 days of moving. It's free online without a new card.
- Learner permit at 15
- Under 18, you need driver ed and proof of school enrollment first.
