Your first Ohio license
Within 30 days of moving. Title the car first at a title office, then do the license and registration at a BMV license agency.

Your unexpired out-of-state license
With it, you skip the knowledge and driving tests.
Form BMV 5745, filled in
The application for an Ohio license or ID card.
Proof of name, date of birth, Social Security number and legal presence
A US passport or birth certificate and your Social Security card, for example.
Proof of your Ohio address
1 for a standard card, 2 from different sources for REAL ID. Utility bills, bank or credit card statements and similar, showing your Ohio street address.
Glasses or contacts, if you wear them
You'll have a vision screening.
For your car: title, VIN inspection, E-Check if needed
Only if it applies
Take your out-of-state title (or a transfer request if a lender holds it), ID and an out-of-state VIN inspection ($8.00 at a BMV license agency) to a county title office first, plus a bill of sale if you bought it from an out-of-state dealer. Then register with the Ohio title. In 7 northeast Ohio counties, most gas and diesel cars 6 to 25 years old also need an E-Check.
