How NJ MVC appointments work
The New Jersey MVC runs every office, and nearly everything in person is by appointment on its own site. Most renewals, replacements and address changes are online instead, and some things are still walk-in at Licensing Centers.

Most license renewals, duplicates, address changes, probationary upgrades and registration renewals are online. Take our 3-question check first.

Pick the right appointment type
Permit (before the knowledge test), knowledge test, road test, REAL ID, out-of-state transfer, in-person renewal, or new title or registration. Each person needs their own booking.

Our office pages show each site's next open appointment from MVC's system; new REAL ID slots open each morning.

Walk in for the rest
Licensing Centers take walk-ins for permit validation, GDL decals, driver abstracts, name and gender marker changes and disability placards, and for picking up a probationary license after you pass the road test.
