Your first Maryland license
Within 60 days, with a 'New to Maryland' appointment. License, title and registration can be one visit.

Your out-of-state license
Valid, or expired less than 12 months. MVA punches a hole in it.
Proof of identity
A birth certificate, U.S. passport or green card, for example. No copies or scans.
Your Social Security number
Your card or a document showing it.
2 proofs of Maryland residency
Two documents with your name and Maryland home address, such as a utility bill, lease, insurance policy, credit card statement or voter registration card. Originals only.
A vision screening
At the branch, or form DL-043A from your eye doctor in the last 24 months.
Payment
$88 for a license if you're 21 or older.
For your car: a Maryland State Inspection certificate, your title and insurance
Only if it applies
Inspection first, at a State Police licensed station. You pay the $200 title fee, registration and the difference in excise tax.
