How Georgia DDS appointments work
Georgia's DDS Customer Service Centers take walk-ins for licenses, permits, IDs and knowledge tests. Only road tests (car, motorcycle and CDL) are by appointment, and there are no same-day slots. Before any visit, DDS requires you to fill in the Online License/ID/Permit form.

Check if you can skip it
Many renewals, replacements and address changes can be done on DDS Online Services or in the DDS 2 GO app, and store kiosks do renewals. Online and kiosk renewals are $5 less. Take our 4-question check first.

Fill in the pre-visit form
The Online License/ID/Permit form is required before any center visit. It's on DDS's site and in the app.

Book road tests ahead
In your DDS online account or the app. Road tests are given at every center except Downtown Atlanta.

Walk in for everything else
Most centers are open Tuesday to Friday, some on Saturday morning, and closed Sunday and Monday. Knowledge tests start at least 30 minutes before closing.
