Getting a learner's permit
Walk in to any DDS center at least 30 minutes before closing. You'll take a vision test and the road rules and road signs tests.

Required before any center visit.
Proof of identity
A certified birth certificate, a valid U.S. passport, or a naturalization certificate or green card.
Your Social Security number
Entered on the online form.
2 proofs of your Georgia address
Two documents from different sources with your name and Georgia street address, such as a utility or phone bill dated within the last 6 months, a lease or mortgage statement, or a bank statement.
Under 18: proof of school enrollment
Only if it applies
A notarized DDS-1 form, a transcript, a recent report card or a school ID.
