Getting a REAL ID
One visit to a Customer Service Center, with originals. It costs $10 once, plus the renewal ($32) or replacement ($20) you're getting.

One proof of identity
Such as a U.S. birth certificate or valid passport.
One proof of legal presence
A U.S. birth certificate or passport covers both.
Two proofs of your Virginia address
Two documents showing your Virginia home address, such as a lease, deed or mortgage statement, a utility bill, a bank statement, a pay stub or a government letter. DMV accepts printouts of online statements; photocopies and temporary documents aren't accepted. See DMV's document guide for the full list.
Your Social Security number
DMV can check it electronically.
Certified proof of every name change
Only if it applies
Marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order, for each change from the name on your birth certificate. Without it, DMV can't issue a REAL ID.
