How Tennessee Driver Services appointments work

Tennessee's 47 Driver Services Centers take walk-ins for everything, and many offer appointments for REAL ID, address changes, renewals, knowledge tests and road tests. Renewals, duplicates and address changes often skip the center: e-Services online, 93 self-service kiosks and 46 county clerks handle them.
  1. 1

Check if you can skip it

Renewals (when you don't need a new photo), duplicates with your DD number and address changes work on e-Services or at a kiosk. Take our 2-question check first.

    Book if you can

Appointments save time at the centers that offer them. Road tests can be booked online up to 45 days ahead.

  3. 3

    Arrive 15 minutes early

Late for an appointment and you're treated as a walk-in. Centers are open weekdays 8:30 to 5, local time, with no Saturday hours.

  4. 4

    Bring originals

Driver Services doesn't accept photocopies. You leave with a paper interim license; the card comes by mail.
