Your current registration works too. The postcard isn't required.
Your ID, in person
Any valid photo ID, such as a passport; it doesn't have to be a Tennessee license.
Insurance on file
An insurance lapse reported to the state can stop a renewal until it's cleared.
Payment
$29 for a standard plate plus your county's wheel tax (and a city fee in some Shelby County cities). Electric cars add $200 ($274 from January 1, 2027), hybrids $100. Online, card and mail fees vary by county.
