Drive tests are by appointment only. A problem with the car can postpone your test.

Your instruction permit
It must be valid on the day of the test.
A licensed driver to come with you
Licensed in California and 18 or older (25 or older if you're under 18). Only the examiner rides along during the test.
Proof of insurance and current registration
For the car you'll drive. For a rental, the contract must have your name on it.
A car in safe working order
Working brake lights, signals, horn, parking brake, wipers and seat belts, two mirrors, a clear windshield and a driver window that opens.
Your 50 practice hours, if you're under 18
Only if it applies
10 of them at night, with a licensed driver 25 or older. DMV has a free log sheet.
